Viessmann Boiler Fault Codes: A WB1B Guide for Vancouver Homes

A fault message gives a technician a starting point. This guide explains selected Viessmann Vitodens 100-W WB1B codes and what information to provide when requesting service in Vancouver or Metro Vancouver.

By Perfect Choice Heating & Cooling · September 9, 2026

First confirm that your boiler is a WB1B

The table below applies to the Vitodens 100-W WB1B series covered by Viessmann document 5600 332-13, February 2019. It is not a universal list for every Vitodens 100-W or Vitodens 200. Record the full model and the exact display before relying on a code meaning.

Selected WB1B fault codes
CodeMeaning for this model
F1The flue-gas temperature limit has been exceeded.
F2The fixed high-limit safety has tripped.
F3A flame signal is detected before burner start.
F4A flame signal is absent.
F9Blower speed is too low at burner start.

What does Viessmann F4 mean?

On this WB1B model, F4 concerns missing flame detection. It does not, by itself, prove that an igniter or control board is defective. The manufacturer’s troubleshooting also identifies condensate blockage as a possible contributor. A technician must establish the cause before choosing a repair.

What to record before the appointment

  • The complete model number and a clear photograph of the display.
  • Whether heating, hot water or both are affected.
  • When the problem began and whether it happens at startup or after running.
  • Previous work on the boiler and any invoice describing the same fault.
  • Your city, access arrangements and the property contact.

Use only information available without opening the enclosure. Avoid repeated resets, internal adjustments or attempts to bypass a safety control. If the fault returns, arrange assessment.

Viessmann boiler questions

Is F2 the same fault as F4?

No. In the WB1B table, F2 refers to a high-limit trip and F4 to an absent flame signal. Both require interpretation in the context of the actual appliance.

Can I use this table for a different Viessmann model?

No. Locate the matching manual using the full model number. Send us that information if you would like to arrange diagnosis.
