Daily service hours: 7:00 AM–9:00 PM. Appointment timing and same-day availability are confirmed when you contact us.

Before you call: the details that help arrange service

  1. If you smell gas or suspect an immediate hazard, follow the safety guidance below and leave the building.
  2. Without removing panels, note the exact message and full model if safely visible.
  3. Describe what stopped working: all heat, one zone, hot water, or both heating and hot water.
  4. Check the normal thermostat mode and setting. Do not bypass safety devices or repeatedly reset equipment.
  5. Share your city, callback number and symptoms through the service form. Appointment timing and charges are confirmed before booking.

Furnace or boiler not heating: what the symptom tells us

A fault code records a condition detected by a control. Several different causes can produce that condition. A technician checks the heating system, confirms the fault and explains the repair before replacing parts.

Information that helps with a heating repair request
What you noticeWhat to tell us
Furnace blowing cold airWhether the fan runs continuously, the thermostat is calling for heat and warm air ever reaches the vents.
Furnace starts and stops repeatedlyHow long each heating cycle lasts, the displayed message and whether the problem affects every room.
Furnace will not igniteThe startup sounds and any code visible through an existing viewing window. Keep access panels in place.
Boiler runs but rooms stay coldWhich zones, radiators or floor-heating areas are affected and whether domestic hot water still works.
Boiler pressure changes or water appearsA photograph of the gauge and the visible leak location, taken from a safe position without touching hot components.
Boiler keeps locking outThe exact code, when it appears and any recent servicing, power interruption or work on the system.

Homeowner checks should follow the appliance’s user manual. You can confirm the thermostat’s heating mode and set temperature, and check an accessible filter according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Avoid repeated resets, opening equipment enclosures or bypassing a safety control.

For more detailed symptom guidance, read our Port Moody furnace cold-air guide or boiler-not-heating guide.

Confirm the brand, full model and control version first

“Vitodens 100-W” or “Ducane furnace” alone may not identify the correct fault table. Photograph the accessible rating plate and the complete display, including letters, dots and leading zeros. A short video can capture a repeating LED sequence without losing part of the message.

Examples of model families to identify before requesting service
EquipmentModel details that matter
Ducane furnaceThe 97G2UHE family uses the applicable Allied Air documentation. Match the full model and installed control to the manual.
American Standard furnaceS9V2 and S9V2-VS are distinct model names. Include the complete rating-plate number with your request.
York furnaceFor a TM9V, include the full suffix and any control identification available without opening the enclosure.
Viessmann boilerSeparate older Vitodens 100-W WB1B units from B1HA and B1HE/B1KE models. Their code tables must be matched individually.
Super Hot boilerMini-Gas models include MG-50-E through MG-150-E. Identify the installed control; the examples below apply to the S9361A manual.
IBC boilerExamples include HC 13-50, HC 20-125, DC 15-96 and DC 20-125. Record HC or DC and the full size designation.

Have another make? We also welcome requests for Carrier, Lennox, Trane, Goodman, Armstrong Air, Daikin and Napoleon furnaces, and Navien, Rinnai, Buderus, Laars, Triangle Tube, Slant/Fin and Burnham boilers. Send the model so we can confirm service scope and parts availability.

Ducane 97G2UHE furnace error codes

These selected examples follow Allied Air service manual 508433-01, Issue 2345, for A97UH2E/97G2UHE equipment. The control can display characters in sequence, so record the whole message.

Selected codes for the control covered by this manual
CodeReported condition
E110The incoming electrical supply is below the required voltage.
E200A rollout safety-circuit opening has caused a hard lockout, including a previous opening.
E207The control reports an open hot-surface igniter.
E223The low-pressure switch has failed to provide the required closure.
E224The low-pressure switch is reported closed when it should be open.
E225The high-pressure switch has failed to provide the required closure.
E250An open circuit at the temperature limit has been reported.

A pressure-switch message calls for diagnosis of the complete proving system. A rollout or limit fault requires professional assessment before further operation.

Read Allied Air’s complete service manual and diagnostic table, pages 17–18 (PDF).

Boiler fault codes: Viessmann, Super Hot and IBC

Use these tables only with the named model and control. For another boiler, send us the display and model label; the same number can describe a different condition on different equipment.

Viessmann Vitodens 100-W WB1B: selected F-codes

The following meanings come from Viessmann’s WB1B CombiPlus manual 5600 332-13. Match your appliance to the document before interpreting a code.

WB1B examples
CodeReported condition
F1Exhaust temperature has passed the permitted maximum.
F2The fixed high-limit safety has operated.
F3A flame indication is present before burner startup.
F4The expected flame indication is missing.

These meanings apply to this WB1B document. B1HE/B1KE and other Vitodens generations need their own manuals. Read our dedicated WB1B fault-code guide and Viessmann’s full WB1B diagnostic tables, pages 75–76 (PDF).

Super Hot Mini-Gas MG: status messages and errors

For MG equipment covered by the S9361A installation and service manual, record whether the display says STA or Err as well as the number.

Selected MG messages with the S9361A control
DisplayMeaning in this manual
STA 8The control is in its burner-running state.
Err 2The expected opening of the vent-damper end switch has not occurred.
Err 4The measured flame current is insufficient.
Err 6Flame is detected at an unexpected point in the operating sequence.

Older boilers may have a different control or no digital display. Include a photo and describe what happens when heating is requested. See our Super Hot boiler problem guide and the manufacturer’s complete MG status and error tables, pages 10–11 (PDF).

IBC HC/DC: selected temperature-sensor fault codes

IBC’s HC/DC guidance identifies separate supply and return block sensors. Its two-digit codes distinguish the sensor and the condition detected.

HC/DC sensor examples from IBC’s technical guidance
CodeSensor condition reported
10The supply block-temperature sensor circuit is open.
11The supply block-temperature sensor circuit is shorted.
20The return block-temperature sensor circuit is open.
21The return block-temperature sensor circuit is shorted.

IBC also explains that temperatures outside the sensor’s operating range can produce these messages. Testing establishes the cause before a part is replaced. Consult IBC’s full HC/DC sensor-code explanation and model-specific manuals.

Furnace and boiler repair in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody

Perfect Choice Heating & Cooling is based in Coquitlam. Choose your city below for local service information and a request form. Include your exact address so we can confirm appointment availability.

For addresses elsewhere in Metro Vancouver or the Fraser Valley, check our service areas and contact us to confirm coverage. Our furnace repair and boiler service pages explain the wider scope of work.

Repair, maintenance or a new heating system?

Ask for a repair assessment when the system has stopped heating, developed a leak or started displaying a recurring fault. Tell us what changed and whether the same problem was repaired before. A useful written recommendation identifies the diagnosis, proposed work and any additional investigation needed.

For planned furnace maintenance or boiler maintenance, provide the model, service history and current concerns. Furnace cleaning, blower cleaning and duct cleaning have different scopes; describe which work you want included in the quote.

If you are considering furnace replacement or boiler installation, request a free installation estimate. Share equipment photos and information about comfort problems. The proposed system should be assessed for the home’s heating requirements and existing ductwork or hydronic distribution. Compare the full scope, venting, controls, electrical work, permit arrangements and warranty terms in the written options.

Furnace and boiler service questions

Does an error code tell me which part to replace?

A code identifies what the control detected. The technician checks the equipment and related system conditions to establish the cause. Include the complete model and the exact code when requesting service.

Can I use the same code table for every furnace or boiler?

Code meanings depend on the model, control and manual revision. Use the named manufacturer references for the examples in this guide. For a different model, send a photograph of the label and display so the correct documentation can be identified.

Is the repair visit free?

Free installation estimates are available. Diagnostic visits and repair work may have charges, which are confirmed when the appointment and scope are arranged. Submitting a quote request does not authorize paid repairs.

What should I include in my service request?

Provide your name, phone, city and service needed. You can also add your address, email, preferred availability, model-label photos, the fault message and a short symptom history. For a boiler, tell us whether heating, domestic hot water or both are affected.

Can you provide same-day furnace or boiler repair?

Call 778-833-2893 to check current availability. Daily service hours are 7:00 AM–9:00 PM, including Sunday. Timing is confirmed from your address, the issue and the schedule.
