By Perfect Choice Heating & Cooling | Published October 15, 2026 | Manufacturer references checked October 15, 2026

This is the detailed model and manual reference. If you are preparing to call about a no-heat problem, start with our furnace and boiler before-you-call checklist, then return here to find the correct manufacturer documentation.

A furnace blowing cold air, a boiler that will not ignite or a flashing fault code can leave you wondering whether you need a small repair or a new heating system. This guide explains the next steps for furnace repair, boiler repair, heating maintenance and equipment replacement in the Tri-Cities.

Perfect Choice Heating & Cooling is based in Coquitlam. We help homeowners with gas furnaces, condensing boilers, conventional boilers, combi boilers and hydronic heating systems. Send your model label, displayed error and a short description through our quote and service request form so we can discuss the right appointment.

Furnace not heating or boiler not working: what to check first

Before requesting a furnace or boiler service visit, collect information that will help us understand the problem. Avoid repeated resets: a disappearing code does not establish that the underlying fault is resolved.

  1. Read the thermostat. Confirm it is set to heating and requesting a temperature above the current room temperature. Note a blank screen, battery message or communication warning.
  2. Record the display. Photograph the complete error, including prefixes, punctuation and any secondary number. If an LED is visible through a viewing window, record a video of the repeating flash pattern.
  3. Identify the equipment. Find the brand, full model number and serial number on an accessible label. Leave sealed panels and burner compartments closed.
  4. Describe the symptom. Tell us whether the furnace fan runs, the appliance attempts ignition, all rooms are cold, one heating zone has stopped, or a combi boiler has lost heating, hot water or both.
  5. Look for obvious external issues. Check accessible supply and return grilles for blockage. Inspect a user-accessible furnace filter according to the owner’s manual. Report visible water around the appliance or an unusual pressure-gauge reading; do not open hot-water components.

A pressure-switch warning can involve venting, condensate drainage, the inducer, wiring or the switch itself. A high-limit warning may involve airflow or water circulation. A qualified diagnosis should establish the cause before a replacement part is recommended.

Keep safety switches, combustion settings, gas valves and electrical controls intact. Internal testing and repairs belong with qualified tradespeople. If there is a persistent lockout, leak, soot, scorching or unusual ignition noise, request professional service.

Furnace brands and models: identify yours before checking errors

Searching for a brand name alone can bring up a code chart for the wrong furnace. For example, a Ducane 92G1UHE flash chart should not be used as a 97G2 fault chart. Record the entire label, including letters and numbers after the family name.

Furnace model and brand reference
Brand / familyModel information to include
Ducane97G2UHE/97G2UHV and 92G1UHE families. Labels you may recognize include 97G2UH070BV12K, 97G2UH090CE16K and 92G1UH070BE12. Use the exact suffix and fitted control.
American Standard / TraneS9V2-family equipment, including labels beginning S9V2B060U4VS. Older and newer controls can report faults differently; use the matching brand manual.
YORKTM9V family, including labels such as TM9V080B12MP11. Check the full model and board reference before interpreting an LED.
DaikinDM96VC/DC96VC and other furnace families. The seven-segment display or control-board chart must match the installed model.
LennoxEL195UHNEK is the specific model illustrated below. Other Lennox series require their own documentation.
Other furnace brandsCarrier, Goodman, Armstrong Air, Napoleon, Rheem and Keeprite: send the full rating-plate photo so we can confirm equipment and service requirements.

The model examples above help identify equipment; they are not a promise that every model is currently offered for new installation. Parts, repair suitability and replacement choices are confirmed for your system. Explore our furnace repair services or furnace installation and replacement options.

Furnace error codes: Ducane, Lennox and other major brands

Ducane 92G1UHE red LED flash codes

This chart applies to the 92G1UHE/A93UH1E manual 507867-02, issue 2304, with the listed 103217-03 or 107163-01 controls. Count the flashes between pauses. Heartbeat and rapid continuous operation signals can be normal; an unlit LED can indicate missing power or a control fault.

92G1UHE: flash counts 1–13
Red LED flashesReported condition
1Supply polarity reversed.
2Earth grounding problem.
3Ignition failed or flame was lost.
4Weak flame signal.
5Ignition retry or recycle limit reached.
6Unused in this manual.
7Primary/secondary limit open; possible limit lockout.
8Rollout safety switch open.
9Pressure switch did not close or opened during heating.
10Pressure switch repeatedly opened during one heat demand.
11Pressure switch closed before inducer startup.
12Flame detected with gas valve de-energized.
13Supply voltage too low.

Ducane 97G2 furnace errors

If your 97G2 furnace stops heating, include its complete model and the actual display or flash sequence in your request. Ignition, flame sensing, pressure proving, high-limit protection and blower operation require model-specific checks. A 45,000, 70,000 or 90,000-input model label does not establish a shared fault chart.

Find Ducane product literature by exact model or request Ducane furnace service.

Lennox furnace error examples: EL195UHNEK

These examples come from EL195UHNEK installation instructions 508575-01, May 2026. They are a selection, not the full code list. The manual also contains additional electrical and refrigerant-detection-system messages.

EL195UHNEK: selected diagnostic codes
CodeWhat the control is reporting
E110 / E111 / E113Low voltage / reversed polarity / high voltage.
E125Control hardware self-check fault.
E200Rollout safety has opened.
E204Gas-valve circuit or relay problem.
E223 / E224 / E227Pressure switch open / closed / opening during operation.
E240 / E241Weak flame current / flame present out of sequence.
E250Primary limit open.
E270 / E273Ignition failure lockout / flame-loss lockout.
E271 / E272Pressure-switch-related retry or recycle lockout.
E274 / E275Prolonged open-limit lockout / out-of-sequence flame lockout.

American Standard, Trane, YORK, Daikin and Carrier furnace errors

A blink count, an alphanumeric code and a thermostat alert are different ways of reporting operating conditions. Include both the thermostat message and the furnace display when available. For American Standard S9V2, Trane S9V2, YORK TM9V, Daikin DM96VC, Carrier and other brands, use the code legend supplied with that exact equipment.

Common service requests include furnace ignition lockout, furnace pressure-switch faults, furnace high-limit trips, flame-sensor warnings, inducer noise, blower problems and furnace short cycling. A diagnostic appointment can separate the initiating problem from a secondary lockout. Book a furnace diagnostic visit.

Boiler, combi boiler and hydronic heating models

A heating-only boiler supplies a hydronic heating circuit and may heat a separate indirect hot-water tank. A combi boiler also provides domestic hot water through its own hot-water function. These systems can fail differently: working taps do not rule out a heating-zone problem, and warm radiators do not prove that the domestic hot-water side is operating correctly.

Boiler model families covered by this guide
ManufacturerModel family / equipment type
ViessmannVitodens 100-W B1HE-85, B1HE-120, B1HE-150 and B1HE-199; B1KE combi models; earlier B1HA/B1KA models. Keep the generation separate when looking up codes.
Super HotMini-Gas MG-50-E, MG-75-E, MG-100-E, MG-125-E and MG-150-E. Saturn SG and commercial AAA models require their own matched documentation.
IBCSL G3 families such as SL 10-85 G3, SL 14-115 G3, SL 20-160 G3 and SL 30-199 G3. Controller generation matters; DC/HC and other families have separate manuals.
NavienNCB-H and NFC-H combi-boiler families, plus NFB-H/NHB-H heating boilers. Examples include NCB-240/130H and NCB-250/150H.
RinnaiI-Series combi models such as i120CN, with model-specific installation and user manuals. Heating-only and other boiler generations use separate documents.

Rinnai RX199/RXP199 and Navien NPE-240A2 are tankless water-heater models, so their fault charts must not be substituted for a boiler chart. If your issue is with that equipment, use our hot-water service request form and specify “tankless water heater.”

For hydronic systems, describe the distribution as well as the boiler: radiant floor heating, baseboard heating, radiators, zone valves, circulators, manifolds or an indirect tank. That information helps identify whether the problem is in the appliance, controls or heating loop.

Boiler error codes: Viessmann, Super Hot, IBC, Navien and Rinnai

Viessmann Vitodens 100-W B1HE/B1KE: selected F-codes

For newer Vitodens 100-W B1HE/B1KE equipment, preserve the dot and every digit in the display. These examples are from the North American B1HE/B1KE installation and service instructions.

B1HE/B1KE: selected ignition and flame faults
CodeWhat the control is reporting
F.357Gas supply is insufficient.
F.359Ignition spark is absent.
F.361Flame signal is absent or insufficient.
F.380Flame is lost immediately after ignition.
F.381Flame is lost during operation.

A code identifies a detected condition; gas supply, ignition, flame sensing and combustion must be evaluated in context. These codes should not be translated into older F4/F9 meanings. Find the exact Viessmann manual and open Viessmann’s model-based fault-code checker.

Earlier Viessmann B1HA/B1KA: fault-code reference

The following condensed reference covers the fault entries in Vitodens 100-W B1HA/B1KA manual 5784 568-22, printed pages 61–62. Short/open means a short circuit or an open/broken connection.

Request Viessmann boiler repair if the appliance repeatedly locks out, fails to ignite or stops providing heat. Include the model, code and whether domestic hot water is also affected.

Super Hot Mini-Gas MG: Err codes

This reference summarizes the error entries for MG-50-E through MG-150-E with the S9361A control in Allied’s MG manual. Earlier controls can differ. A STA number is an operating state, not automatically a fault; record whether the display says STA or Err.

MG with S9361A: error entries from Table 4
CodeWhat the control is reporting
Err 2 / Err 29Vent-damper end switch failed to open / close.
Err 4Weak pilot flame current.
Err 6Flame detected outside the normal sequence.
Err 18Repeated gas-valve relay fault lockouts.
Err 23 / Err 24Flame sensed during pre-purge / post-purge.
Err 32Temperature sensing or interface fault.
Err 55 / Err 56Atmospheric damper end switch failed to close / open.
Err 57Flame rod shorted to burner ground.
Err 58 / Err 59 / Err 61AC frequency / voltage range / unstable voltage problem.

IBC SL boilers: touchscreen messages and alarms

IBC SL boilers can display descriptive messages instead of a single short number. Save the complete text and the controller’s warning or alarm status. The following messages appear in IBC’s troubleshooting and related model documentation; applicability depends on the boiler and controller.

IBC: examples of displayed fault messages
MessageMeaning to discuss with your technician
Ignition Failure / Ign Trials ExceededIgnition attempts have not established flame.
Water High-Limit ExceededWater temperature protection has operated.
Low Water CutoffLow-water protection has operated.
Low Water PressureHeating-loop pressure is below the allowed minimum.
No Water FlowRequired circulation is not being proved.
Aux. Interlock 1 or 2An external safety/interlock circuit is open.
Insufficient Air FlowCombustion airflow proving needs investigation.
Loop/Indoor SensorA sensor input or its connection needs checking.

Sources: IBC SL troubleshooting and controller references, IBC low-pressure guidance and IBC VFC flow-proving documentation. An IBC “Flame Outs” count in a diagnostics screen is a recorded value and does not, by itself, establish an active fault.

For a Navien NCB-H/NFC-H combi boiler or Rinnai I-Series boiler, use the manufacturer’s model-specific error section. A code taken from a tankless-water-heater page or another generation can send diagnosis in the wrong direction.

  • Navien NCB-H manuals and downloads: choose the exact model and open its user-information or installation manual. Use Navien’s product selector for other families.
  • Rinnai i120CN documentation: access I-Series user and installation manuals under Documentation; choose the correct product page for another model.

Include leading zeros and any secondary code. Tell us if the fault appears during space heating, a hot-water draw or both. For a combi boiler, also report whether tap temperature fluctuates, one heating zone stays cold or the appliance cycles rapidly. Request Navien or Rinnai boiler service.

Furnace and boiler repair, maintenance or replacement?

The right choice depends on the confirmed fault, heat-exchanger condition, equipment history, parts availability and the rest of the installation. An error code alone is not a reason to replace an appliance. A sound system with an isolated repairable fault can be assessed differently from one with extensive deterioration or repeated major failures.

Repair

Start with diagnosis when heat has stopped, faults recur, ignition is unreliable, a pump or blower is noisy, or a zone is not heating. Ask what was tested, what failed and what the repair includes.

Maintenance

Plan service to the manufacturer’s schedule. Cleaning and inspection should match the equipment and its condition. Ask whether deeper blower, inducer, burner or heat-exchanger work is included in the proposed scope.

Replacement

Compare written options when repairs are extensive, suitable parts are unavailable, safety concerns prevent continued operation, or a planned upgrade better suits your home. Review the complete installation scope.

What a furnace service assessment can include

Depending on the model and agreed work, a technician may inspect the filter and blower, check airflow and temperature rise, evaluate ignition and flame proving, inspect venting and condensate drainage, review safety operation and perform combustion checks. A deep furnace cleaning should have a clear scope; it is not automatically included in every diagnostic or tune-up visit.

Explore furnace maintenance and tune-ups or request furnace repair.

What a boiler service assessment can include

A boiler visit can involve burner and heat-exchanger inspection, condensate components on condensing models, venting, combustion, water pressure, expansion control, circulation, zone operation and visible leaks. Flushing, descaling, magnetic-filter service, air removal, manifold repairs and backflow work should be specified when required. One cold zone may need controls or circulation work even while the boiler itself operates.

Explore boiler maintenance or request a hydronic heating diagnosis.

What should a furnace or boiler installation quote include?

  • The proposed equipment’s full model numbers and why the capacity suits the home’s calculated heating needs.
  • Relevant ductwork or hydronic piping changes, venting, gas supply, condensate handling, controls and electrical work.
  • Permit responsibilities, removal of old equipment, startup checks and commissioning scope.
  • Written equipment and workmanship warranty terms, exclusions and any registration responsibilities.
  • A clearly itemized price, applicable taxes and the work included in any optional upgrades.

Square footage alone does not establish the correct furnace or boiler size. Insulation, windows, air leakage, design conditions, distribution and domestic hot-water requirements can affect the selection. If you are considering a heat pump with a backup furnace, ask about a properly assessed dual-fuel system. Request a free installation estimate.

Furnace and boiler questions homeowners ask

What does my furnace or boiler error code mean?

It reports a condition detected by the appliance’s control. The exact meaning depends on the model, installed control and software. Match the full model to its manufacturer manual, then have the cause confirmed through diagnosis. A fault code does not automatically identify a failed part.

Can I keep resetting a furnace or boiler to get heat?

Repeated resets can hide useful fault information and restart equipment with an unresolved problem. Record the code first and follow the owner’s instructions. If the fault returns, arrange service. Do not bypass a rollout, high-limit, pressure, low-water or other safety device.

Why is my furnace blowing cold air?

The fan may be set to circulate independently, or the heating cycle may have stopped because ignition, airflow or a safety check failed. Confirm the thermostat mode, record any furnace message and tell us whether the burners ever light. Request service if heat does not return under normal operation.

Why does my boiler provide hot water but not heat the rooms?

On a combi system, space heating and domestic hot water involve different demands and components. A thermostat, zone control, circulator, valve, air blockage or appliance fault can affect heating. Tell us whether every zone is cold or only one; that distinction helps with diagnosis.

Why does boiler pressure keep dropping?

A leak, expansion-control issue, relief-valve discharge or another system fault may be involved. Record the cold and operating readings if safely visible and report visible leaks. Repeatedly adding water without finding the cause can conceal the problem. Arrange a hydronic heating assessment.

Does a furnace pressure-switch code mean the switch must be replaced?

No. The switch may be correctly detecting a venting, drainage or inducer problem, or there may be a circuit or switch fault. A technician should test the system against the manufacturer’s requirements before recommending a part.

Do you offer free furnace and boiler quotes?

Yes, installation estimates are free. Use our quote form to request furnace replacement, boiler installation or upgrade options. For a breakdown, request a service appointment; diagnostic and repair charges are confirmed before you approve the work.
